Homecoming unites the past and the present.  ~Author Unknown

To look backward for a while is to refresh the eye, to restore it, and to render it the more fit for its prime function of looking forward.  ~Margaret Fairless Barber, The Roadmender

homecoming weekend

Friday October 2nd beginning at 7:00 P.M.

Come join your family and friends as we gather for a meal, play games, learn some line dancing and just enjoy the fellowship of each other.

We are having a pot luck spaghetti meal; please contact Stacy Harper, Richlyn Emanuel or the Church Office if you would like to contribute a dish.

Community Service Hours
Students graduating from Prince Georges County Public Schools in the Year 2012 and beyond will be required to have at least 72 hours of community service in order to graduate?   Students graduating prior to that year are required to have a minimum of 36 hours of community service hours.

Even if your student doesn’t “need” service hours, giving back to your community and lending a helping hand is always a good thing to do and looks great on your transcript and college applications.

We are asking all youth to come out to the Family Fun Night that will kick-off the homecoming weekend on Friday, October 2nd.  Youth ages 12 and above will have an opportunity to assist with preparing a giveaway for homecoming.  Students will be able to earn at least 2 hours of community service for this project.  They will still have time to participate in the evenings fun festivities.
Saturday Blessing of the Animals
Morning Prayer and the annual blessing of the animals will be held on Saturday, October 3rd, 2009 at 10:00AM on the front lawn of the church. Humans bring your pets, stuffed animals, ashes or items from a beloved animal friend. Contact Dorothy Robinson for further details.

This Week’s MEDITATION
The Future Is Full of Promise
The future is full of promise, Holy Mystery,
if only because we discern your forces of evolution at work everywhere.

Every opening daffodil, every growing child,
every glimmer of human enlightenment, every bodily process of healing --
tells us the future is not fearsome but is full of promise.

Your face is hidden, your name unknown:
still we turn to you in faith and confidence.

Creating Spirit, we hear your comforting voice
in the steady music of the unfolding of creation.

We give thanks to exist,
and to be the joy of your heart.
Amen.
- William Cleary
