This Week at St. Timothy’s
For the Week Beginning December 13, 2009

The Good News

There is so much news in the world today.  We have access to news 24 hours/ 7 days a week.  But is any of it good?  With all that information flowing to us, does any of it point to the Good News?

John prepares the way for Jesus by exhorting the people about the Good News.  Jesus comes and preaches the Good News to all people in all the surrounding towns of Jerusalem.  The
good news is a message for all peoples, of all nations, tribes, cultures and languages.

Do you know what the Good News is?  Do you share it with others?

Have a Blessed Week,

Jozetta, Richlyn Ophelia & Stacy

ANNUAL MEETING

Please note that the annual meeting has been moved to Sunday, December 20th.  There is only one service on December 20th - annual meeting.  All parishioners are encouraged to attend as we discuss the business (present and future) of our church.

ALTAR GUILD

Each year we decorate our Sanctuary with poinsettia plants as we celebrate the birth of the Prince of Peace, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  You are invited to share in making the Sanctuary beautiful by making a donation of one or two poinsettia plants to the glory of God.  The plants are $15.00 each.  The deadline is Sunday, December 20, 2009.  You may pick up a form from the Narthex, Marjorie Pinchback or the Church Office. Thank you.

YOUTH MINISTRIES

All youth and parents are asked to keep in mind that the Sr. Youth Group meetings are every 1st and 3rd Sunday immediately following the 10 a.m. service and Jr. Youth Group meetings are held every 2nd and 4th Sunday immediately following the 10 a.m. service. This past Sunday was combined due to the topics that were being discussed.

The word “Advent” means “to come or show up”. It’s a time for self examination and asking for forgiveness as we spiritually prepare for Christ’s coming. Your prayers and presence are requested as we journey through Advent. During our study series, we will read, think through and discuss how to “prepare him room”, led by various presenters. Come and enjoy fellowship, a light lunch/supper, discussions and the Eucharist each Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. or 6:30 p.m. (December 2, 9 and 16).

Christmas Pageant Rehearsal will begin on Sunday, December 13th during the Church School hour (beginning at 9:45 a.m.).  All youth are invited to participate. We also need assistance form adults as participants and for props. If you are interested, please be sure to attend rehearsal in the lower parish hall on Sunday.
