Oluchi Dance Ministry

Hello from the Oluchi, St. Timothy’s Dance Team,
As a ministry, liturgical dance is most effectively used to illuminate the scriptures by bringing to life the stories of the bible, and to celebrate the holy days of the church. This is why some consider dance to be one of the highest forms of worship. We present our bodies to God as fully prepared living sacrifices through the vehicle of dance.
As dancers we have an incredible responsibility to not only bring the offerings of the people to God, but as we dance to also provide a platform for God to step down upon in order to touch his people with his presence.
Oluchi encompasses dances of Celebration, Praise, Prophetic, Travail, Warfare and Worship. We are an intergenerational group that spans over three generations. Our dances can bring forth life, both spiritual and physical. To worship God in dance is biblical. Scripture gives many references to the use of dance as a form of joyous celebration and reverent worship.
Our dances offer an enormous range of forms and expressions in worship from the carefully choreographed dramatic presentation to the spontaneous worship and celebration.
Oluchi is scheduled to perform at the parish annual events such as the Christmas Pageant, Black History Program, during Lent, at Easter, Youth Gospel Concert and Graduation Sunday.
If you are interested in joining Oluchi, please contact Melissa James at (202) 582-2148.
