Upcoming events

BOOK CLUB:  The winter meeting of the book club will be held on Friday, February 2, 2018 at 6:30 p.m.  We will be discussing Book 1 "The Glassblower" and Book 2 "The American Lady" by Petra Durst-Benning.  We will also discuss “Not With the Church’s Money” by Michelle Stimpson and CaSandra McLaughlin.  Come join us.   Pat Johnson, Book Club Coordinator.
ACOLYTE WORKSHOP (CHANGE OF DATE): The Acolyte Guild is opened to any individual ten years old or older. The spring acolyte workshop will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018, at 10 AM.  It is very important that all acolytes, and any individual interested in becoming an acolyte, please attend this workshop. Please RSVP to Lillie Artis or Mary R. Ford.  Thanks for your dedication and participation.  
YOUTH SUNDAY CHANGE: The Youth Ministry will now be celebrating Youth Sunday every fourth Sunday. We hope you will join us in February as we commemorate Black History Month. Melissa Williams, Chair, Youth & Young Adult Ministries.
DAUGHTERS OF THE KING:  You are reminded that it is time to collect your self-denial contribution.  We usually give at least five dollars each.  Please give your check to Gloria Clanton as soon as you can.  DO NOT PUT IT IN THE COLLECTION PLATE. Make your check payable to St. Timothy’s Church. 
HATS, GLOVES & SCARVES:  Sunday January 28, 2018 will be the last Sunday the Jr. Daughters Of The Kings will be collecting the hats, gloves and scarves.  Thank You so much for your contributions. Wanda Price, Rosslyn Edwards, Lisa Gandy.
JR. DAUGHTERS OF THE KING: The hats, gloves and scarves collected will be presented to the 50th Street Family Shelter on Sunday February 4, 2018, during the 10:00 a.m. service. Lisa Gandy

Good day. Next month is Black History month and the Annual Buffalo Soldier Banquet will be held on Sunday February 17th.This is the event you do want to attend. CARTRIDGES: Do you have a HP printer that uses "02 Series" ink cartridges? I have several for sale at below retail cost. If interested contact Dorothy Robinson.

SNOW AND ICE: During inclement weather, it may be necessary to cancel special events, church services on Sunday, and/or special services on Saturday because of St. Timothy’s location on two “snow emergency routes.”  Consequently, when the Mayor of the District of Columbia declares a snow emergency, cars are prohibited from parking on Alabama Avenue and on Suitland Road.  Therefore, when this occurs, parking is not available for parishioners, and church services will be cancelled.  Please listen to the local news programs for snow emergency information or check our web site concerning the District of Columbia.
