YOUTH PROGRAMS

JR. BROTHERHOOD OF ST. ANDREW

The Junior Brotherhood of St. Andrew was established in 2005 for young men ages 12 to 18 who are members of St. Timothy's. The program is an extension of The Brotherhood of St, Andrews, St. Timothy's Chapter #51585.

The mission of the Brotherhood is to bring men and boys to Christ through His church. Monthly meetings are held for the purpose of training, prayer, study and service. The young men also plan outings to include fishing trips and earn community service hours through planned projects.

The adult leaders are Dr. Herman Bistick, Robert James, Robert Richards and  Julius Copeland. For more information on this group contact the church at (202) 582-7740.

JUNIOR DAUGHTERS OF THE KING, RUTH CHAPTER, PROVINCE III

COMMITTEE CHAIR AND CONTACT INFO: Stephanie Byrd and Tanya Copeland

COMMITTEE MEMBERS: Young ladies ages 10 to 18 are invited to join the Jr. Daughters

MISSION: As a religious Order, our mission is to spread God's Kingdom and strengthen the spiritual life of the church.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Our responsibilities are to spread God's Kingdom and strengthen the spiritual life of the church through a solemn vow of prayer and service. We pray daily for the spread of the Kingdom, and for the blessings of God on our Order for spiritual growth. As part of the rule of service, Junior Daughters participate regularly in the worship, Bible study and ministry of the church, and make a constant effort to bring others to Christ (as evangelists), and serve the church and community; in word and deed. It is our daily responsibility to wear the cross for the Order to represent Jesus' love for us and His people. The cross is inscribed with the initials FHS, which means "For His Sake." We wear the colors of the Order, Blue and White. Blue representing Mary, the servant or handmaid of the Lord; and white for rejoicing, and for the festivals of Christ.

YOUTH MINISTRIES

A vibrant, energetic, educational, and inspirational youth ministry has always been a cornerstone of the St. Timothy's spiritual experience.

This ministry identifies, develops and implements programs and activities to enhance youth from infancy through high school (or 18 years of age). We invite our young people to explore their faith through experiential learning, field trips, and spiritual retreats.

Youth at St. Timothy's participate in events at the parish as well as at diocesan level. As an inter-generational parish, our young people are involved in several aspects of worship, community events, and church activities.

YOUTH SUNDAY

Youth at St. Timothy's celebrates Youth Sunday every fourth Sunday of the month. During  services, youth lead by ushering, singing, reading and providing the homily. This is a highlight of our intergenerational experience as a parish.

CHILDREN'S CHOIR

We have a talented and engaged Children's Choir led by Meg Edwards Jones. The group has performed at several events including the annual Bishop Walker Memorial Scholarship Prayer Breakfast, Haiti Micah 10th Anniversary and at several services.

We are a home for the young, old and the in-between. Our youth benefit from the wisdom of our elders and our elders are inspired by the energy of the curious youth.
